Anyone who knows me knows that I am passionate about 2 things; travel and music. I am at my happiest when I am on the road, in a foreign country learning new things but I am also at my happiest when I am zoned out and plugged in or standing in a crowd at a gig, discovering new music, so I have compiled a list of songs that inspire me to travel;
Imagine Dragons- On top of the world
This song always puts a smile on my face when I am on the road, I always put it on my iPod especially when I am on an aeroplane because as cheesy at it is, yes I am on top of the world, plus the lyrics describe how I am feeling when I am on my way to a new destination.
Mr Probz- Waves
When I got back from backpacking around Asia it was the first time this song was released. I couldn’t stop listening to it because it always without fail took me back to the sun-kissed glistening beaches of Thailand. It kept me dreaming of my return and got me through my final year at university, knowing the sooner that was finished the sooner I could get myself back to them beaches.
The Lumineers- Stubborn Love
I absolutely love this song, I always find myself lost in a daze whilst staring out of some rickety old bus window.
Ben Howard- Keep your head up
I have been on the road now for about 18 months, and it can be quite tough and lonely sometimes. This song keeps me going on those down days.
Vance Joy- Great Summer
This is a pretty newly released song and if I am honest with you, it was very difficult to choose between all the songs on Vance Joys album ‘Dream your life away’ because they could all make this list as that album has accompanied me on many journeys throughout my travels.
This is an uplifting song that just makes me smile. The beat of the song just makes me happy and keeps me inspired to keep following my dreams.
Right seriously, take me to the sun, with a golden beach, a hammock and a mojito in my hand NOW!!
This is one that pops up on most people’s travel playlists, let’s face it. I really don’t know what it is about this song.
There’s nothing more true than the name of the song, it really is for the living and it’s what I intend to do by seeing and experiencing as much as I can of this world. I even have this tattooed on my foot.
Seriously who doesn’t love a classic, this song really does keep me inspired.
